POP star Olly Murs played a game of five-a-side football at Burton's St George's Park – leading his team to victory over the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show.
Nick Grimshaw and his team were broadcasting live from the headquarters of English football between 6.30am and 10am yesterday before going off air and preparing for the big match.
And Olly's team – named Tottenham Hot-Murs – beat the Radio 1-derers, led by Nick, 11-1 after 15 minutes each way.
The event was held ahead of the Sir Bobby Robson National Football Day on Saturday, August 10, which will see 150 events taking place around the country to celebrate the nation's favourite game in the FA's 150th anniversary year.
Both Olly and "Grimmy" were given training over the course of yesterday morning, which was broadcast live on BBC Radio 1.
They underwent a range of activities including reactions training, strength and conditioning training and sprint exercises on the underwater treadmill.
The pair were joined by team-mates including former Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage as well as two-time Premier League winner David May for the big match on the indoor pitch.
Olly, who is an FA150 ambassador, said: "It's been great working with the FA as an ambassador for its 150th anniversary, so I was delighted to be able to pull a few strings and arrange this game against Nick at St George's Park.
"The performance was exceptional and we're delighted to get the win.
"Days like today are why I love football – I'd encourage people to get involved with the Sir Bobby Robson National Football Day on August 10 and celebrate the nation's favourite game in their own way."
The match was closed to the public but St George's Park tweeted in the run-up to the event including the team lists.
Radio 1's team included radio presenters Chris Stark, Tom Whiter, Andy Worrell, Mark Jeffries and Robbie Savage.
Olly's team included Gordon Smart, editor of The Sun's celebrity column Bizarre, Mark Murphy, John Pollard, Ryan Halls and former Manchester United defender David May.
Nick, who injured himself in yesterday's match and spent some time in A&E last night, said: "St George's Park was a pretty amazing venue for the Radio 1-derers to play their first game."
Events being held by County FAs and FA Charter Standard Clubs will be open to people of all ages and abilities, with the public able to join in everything from tournaments, to skills sessions and coaching workshops.
The day will provide a focus on every aspect of the game including women's football, disability football, refereeing and coaching. Reported by This is 2 days ago.
