BusinessRadioX®'s Atlanta Business Radio welcomed to the studio Dr. Jack Phillips, Chairman of the ROI Institute, to discuss developing a successful consulting practice.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 26, 2013

On November 25, 2013, co-hosts Lee Kantor and Stone Payton of BusinessRadioX®'s Atlanta Business Radio welcomed to the studio Dr. Jack Phillips with the ROI Institute to talk about how to develop a successful consulting practice.

The ROI Institute, founded in 1992, is a service-driven organization which strives to assist professionals in improving their programs and processes through the use of the ROI Methodology. Developed by Dr. Jack Phillips, this methodology is a critical tool for measuring and evaluating programs in 18 different applications in more than 40 countries.

Dr. Phillips is a world-renowned expert on accountability, measurement, and evaluation. Phillips provides consulting services for Fortune 500 companies and major global organizations. The author or editor of more than fifty books, he conducts workshops and presents at conferences throughout the world.

According to Phillips, "Developing a successful consulting practice can be one of the most lucrative opportunities available." Some professional associations report that the number one question into their customer call centers is, "How do you start a consulting practice?" Whether professionals come to consulting through current employment displacement are baby boomers who have amassed a vast amount of knowledge and expertise to share, or are employees fed up with the corporate workplace, all are seeking success as a consultant.

"Although consulting is the most sought after occupation, it represents the professional occupation with the highest failure rate," said Phillips. When asked why, he explained, "Because they were not planned, not fully capitalized, and didn’t have a niche product or service. With planning, preparation, and an excellent business plan, the chances of success are greatly enhanced."

To that point, Phillips described the ROI Institute's approach to success. "Our approach is to develop successful consultants or at least convince prospective consultants that consulting is not the best option." Prospective consultants must take one of two actions: either they will be convinced that consulting is not a viable option, at least for the present time, and will not pursue it; or they decide to pursue it and develop a business plan, which is the key to growing the business. "Either a disaster is prevented or they are on the road to developing a successful practice."
