LINCS FM visited Scunthorpe's Westcliff estate to help talk up the good work taking place there.
The station is touring the area with a specially adapted student van, complete with sound system.
Breakfast presenter Sam Kirk and weekend presenter Ross Carrick spent Monday on the estate, handing out cakes at the Drop-In Centre and interviewing residents there.
Lincs FM's director of programming, Sean Dunderdale, who is from Scunthorpe, said: "Following the negative publicity created by the TV show Skint, we wanted to dispel many of the myths about Westcliff and when we had the idea of the Big Month Out, I straight away said we had to make a visit to the estate.
"Although we were only on the Westcliff estate with our van for a short while, it meant listeners could find out a little more about the area and the many positive things happening there."
Visitors to the van, which was parked outside the Desert Rat, could enter into a prize draw to win shopping vouchers worth £1,000, plus money off a new sofa.
People were also able to take part in a juggling challenge on the day. Reported by This is 3 hours ago.
