Utah-based Singer-Songwriter Cathy Ford Releases Debut Studio Album "Glow" with Accompanying Music Video

Cathy Ford, a Utah-based Singer-Songwriter, has released her studio album and music video “Glow”. The first single and title track, “Glow”, has been released to local radio stations and the album, Ford’s debut, has been nominated for a Utah Music Award

St. George, Utah (PRWEB) September 06, 2014

Cathy Ford has announced the recent release of her independent studio album entitled "Glow". The self-produced CD marks the debut of the St. George-based singer-songwriter, model and actress, who only began writing her own music and verse in late 2013. The new album explores such themes as worthiness, true love and the essential qualities of hope and faith in the midst of darkness. Ford's soulful and sometimes-mournful voice and piano are prominent throughout the twelve tracks.

“One cannot explore life’s light without exploring its darkness since one doesn’t exist without the other,” said Ford. “Not all the songs I write are feel good songs but I believe that it’s better to feel and explore something strong than to feel nothing. It’s only through emerging from the darkness of loss and self-doubt – the dark night of the soul – that we can be touched by God and reclaim our glow, our light.”

"Though I had been trained on piano since I was a child and studied voice in college, playing and singing music and songs by other artists never satisfied this deep desire to express certain feelings and themes that were important to me," stated Ford. "While there is something extremely enjoyable about performing in musicals and acting, recording and performing my own songs is satisfying like nothing else."

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Spiral Studios in St. George and co-produced by Steve Lemmon and Ryan Tilby. Lemmon and Tilby, both sound engineers as well as producers, also performed on each track and co-arranged the songs with Ford. "I feel so very fortunate to be able to work with Steve and Ryan, wonderful friends and amazing, generous musicians," said Ford. "They helped me to transform my music into something truly beautiful."

Ford's debut album has already received industry recognition, garnering a 2014 Utah Music Award nomination for best album. The ceremony will be held at the Covey Center for the Arts on September 18.

"Receiving the nomination for my first record is, to me, a manifestation of the spirit of this recording project," stated Ford. "A record wasn't on my radar this time last year. But once I completed my first song and began sharing it, my family and friends sprung into action. We began a Kickstarter campaign to fund the record and website. I was humbled and awestruck by the number of people who so lovingly and generously contributed to this effort. The Music Awards committee must have reacted to the love and generosity that is the very foundation of Glow.”

Raised in Smithfield, Utah, and later in Southern California, Cathy is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She began studying piano at age 4 and voice as a child and honed her skills as a vocalist at church events and in school choir. Cathy studied voice and music at Southern Utah University and Dixie State University. She currently resides in Southern Utah with her husband and eight children.

Individual music tracks can be purchased online at CathyFordMusic.com as well as on iTunes. Reported by PRWeb 5 hours ago.
