This is Cornwall -- FOUR Cornish recording artists will play Wadebridge Town Hall on Saturday in support of local radio station, NCB Radio (North Cornwall Broadcasting). NCB Radio was founded in March 2010 by a group of local young people in North Cornwall with one single aim - to create a 'not-for-profit' radio station that is more than just a radio station. It is NCB's mission to use the medium of radio to not just entertain and inform but to also bring the various communities of North Cornwall closer together. As part of their first fundraising drive, four great, original Cornish bands have joined together to raise funds for the station. Headlining the evening are Auction For The Promise Club of whom Music News wrote, "'With their fresh slant on indie guitar driven rock, combined with the haunting vocals and stunning good looks of Zoe, word is already out about these guys. So go and 'catch them live in a small venue soon, while you still have the chance". Auction for the Promise Club are a pop rock three piece with raw vitality and serious potential. They've already gained a decent amount of attention (including making it into the Marie Claire UK Playlist alongside Florence and the Machine and I Blame Coco). Their acclaimed debut EP 'One' was recorded at London's famed Abbey Road and they were introduced on BBC 6 Music by Tom Robinson, on XFM by John Kennedy and on Absolute Radio by Sarah Champion the female-fronted rock band have garnered critical acclaim for their unique sound, which channels shoegaze through giant hooks and huge choruses. 2010 saw Auction for the Promise Club support Paolo Nutini and Martha Wainright at the Eden Sessions and also Reverend and The Makers. The band played at the Eden Sessions again in 2011 before Pendulum. They've racked up performances at some of the country's most renowned venues, including Liverpool's Cavern Club, The Factory/Fac251 in Manchester, Birmingham's Gatecrasher and the ICA in London, as well as headlining a closing show at London Fashion Week, Jalouse, Mayfair. Also on the bill are The Viewers, a 1960s-influenced band with a distinct and individual sound. The Viewers are already attracting considerable interest both within the county and beyond. The band are inspired by iconic names such as The Beatles, The Byrds, The Kinks and The Hollies, and have been writing prolifically and widely promoting their material over the past year. This is already starting to pay dividends, with initial interest received from Ray Davies' management. The third band on stage on July 13 will be The Grenaways. Taking their name from one of North Cornwall's hidden treasures, The Grenaways, formed just over two years ago in Polzeath, North Cornwall, while hanging out by the beach at the Tubestation, and working on the bluesy Christmas charity EP, Star Of Wonder for the Cornish-based charity, Shelterbox, with backing vocals from the St Minver School Choir. The Grenaways released their self-titled EP in the summer of 2012 and on the back of the critical acclaim the band received signed to Sheffield-based label Sound Bytes Media. They are currently recording their first album live at Saint James Parish Church in St Kew, the same venue used by Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends and the label is hoping to release the album nationally in August. Opening the fundraising show for NCB Live will be local Wadebridge favourite, singer-songwriter Cy Parry, who recently had one of his tracks used in a Nissan motor car advert. Cy recently recorded his latest album at Alive Music Studios in Wadebridge. NCB Live will be hosted by two of the station's presenters - Mr Foot (Jesse Foot) and the outrageous Justice H Keystone. Non-stop music will be ensured by NCB's very own Vince Vega at the turntables. Vince, presenter of Perfect Pitch on Saturdays, first got in to DJ-ing back in 1989 when he got his first mixer... and never looked back. The bar will be hosted by Sprigg, aka Jonathan Parry, and some fabulous raffle prizes are on offer to be won.
