Julian Casablancas Says He Recorded a Second Song With Daft Punk, More Strokes Songs Possible Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas has been giving interviews surrounding his upcoming solo album, the followup to his 2009 solo LP Phrazes for the Young. While recently in Chile for Lollapalooza, he told the Chilean radio station Radio Cooperativa (via Strokes News) that he worked on a second song with Daft Punk, in addition to "Instant Crush", the one that appeared on Random Access Memories. "Maybe I'll get those guys—we can do that one day soon, finish it," he said. "But not on this record."

Casablancas told Santiago newspaper La Tercera (via Strokes News) that he's aiming for a September release date for his next album, which will be credited to Julian Casablancas + the Voidz. Describing his influences for the album, he mentioned Sébastien Tellier and Black Flag.

Speaking with La Tercera, Casablancas also said the Strokes have plans to record and play live (via NME). "We're trying to carry on as friends, taking it easy, recording a couple of songs, and do a couple of shows," he said. The band has already confirmed a headlining set at New York's Governors Ball fest (Casablancas will also play a solo set).

Casablancas and the Voidz premiered a few songs from the upcoming record during SXSW, including "2231", "Biz Dog", "The Phantom of Liberty (Arabic Jam)", and "Dr. Acula"
