A SWANSEA boy has proved he has a way with words — 500 of them.

City lad Christian Morton was among the winners of BBC Radio 2's 500 Words competition.

This year more than 90,000 children entered the award-winning writing competition, which is now in its third year.

The six winners in the two age groups were announced during a live broadcast of the Chris Evans Breakfast Show from the Hay Festival.

Christian won the bronze medal in the nine and under category for his story, Stone Age Steve and the Dragon. He was also the only winner from Wales.

The judges included Richard Hammond, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Dame Jaqueline Wilson, Charlie Higson and Malorie Blackman.

During the event, Chris Evans said it had been the best 500 Words competition so far.

The winning stories, along with the other final entries, are on the Radio 2 website bbc.co.uk/radio2.

The 500 Words page also has a behind-the-scenes video and pictures from the final in Hay. Reported by This is 6 hours ago.
