Radio DJ 'Swings' into Hatboro
Patch Hatboro-Horsham, PA --

It's been more than two decades since DJ Ted Taylor was the voice behind the music at Philadelphia-area radio stations.

Two weeks ago, Taylor, a Glenside native, ended his hiatus and returned to radio as host of Hatboro's WRDV-FM's "Good Morning Show," which airs Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to noon. The station, which is located at 126 S. York Road in the heart of downtown Hatboro, plays "20th century nostalgia" music, including big band and swing, according to the station's Web site.

"It'll be fun," Taylor said of his return.

A public radio WRDV broadcasts from 89.3 FM through a network that covers Bucks and Montgomery counties, as well as Philadelphia and also streams live on the internet at WRDV.org.

Taylor broke in to radio in 1965 as a play-by-play sportscaster with WIFI FM in Philadelphia and later was a talk show host and rock jock for that station.

He was part of the big band/swing format on several Philadelphia-area stations, including WIBF FM, WBUX and WNPV from 1970-92 and finished up with a five-year stint on the nationally syndicated “Sports By-Line USA” radio talk show out of San Francisco.

A professor at Chestnut Hill College, a long-time newspaper columnist and consultant in the sports memorabilia field, Taylor is also a published author with his latest book being the autobiographical novel “The Glenside Kid.” Reported by Patch 21 hours ago.
