Two day event scheduled for April 18 & 19 in downtown Lansing to highlight over 250 craft beers, cider, mead and wine – with a focus on Michigan brews, over 100 musicians, marching bands, Homebrewer’s Challenge, Food Pairing Tour and Rare Beer Tour.
Lansing, MI (PRWEB) February 22, 2014
After announcing the first annual Lansing Microbrew & Music Festival last November, there has been an amazing response. Event producers hosted a sold out event in Traverse City the first weekend in February, and the popular regional event will now tour to Lansing to host the two day festival on the banks of the scenic Grand River.
Tickets include five 8oz. pours, custom tasting glass, craft beer programming featuring over 50 breweries with a majority from Michigan, representatives and brewers from each brewery, carefully selected national and international brands, a Homebrewer’s Challenge offering 10 free 2oz samples, craft beer education, 250+ varieties of microbrews, wines, ciders and meads, live musical acts on four stages, marching bands, a silent disco DJ dance tent, and local food vendors. OAR will be headlining on Saturday and Dirty Heads will be headlining Friday. Festivities are scheduled to take place from 5-11 p.m. daily. In addition, Friday VIP allows admission into the event one hour early and Saturday allows admission into the event two hours early!
The Lansing event will include a first of its kind in the US mobile tent with a 4000 person capacity housing the main stage offering cover and protection if needed (it is Michigan after all). This will be the first exposure for this innovative venue for the Microbrew & Music Festival. This spectacular structure will alone be an experience worth coming to see. Previous patrons have compared the look of the tent to the Sydney Opera House and we would love to have you join us for this unique experience.

O.A.R. and Dirty Heads to Headline
Headlining the Lansing Microbrew & Music Festival Saturday night, O.A.R. has sold close to 2 million albums and over 2 million concert tickets, including three sold-out shows at New York City's Madison Square Garden. In 2011 the band released their most recent studio album, King , which debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200 chart, #3 on the Billboard Digital Album Chart, and was #3 at iTunes on the day of the release. Most recently, the band released a live CD and DVD of their July 2012 performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO entitled Live on Red Rocks.
Headlining Friday are The Dirty Heads, a 5 -piece reggae, rock, punk and hip hop group based in Huntington Beach, CA. Their first album Any Port In A Storm was launched at the end of 2008 and in 2010, they added single “Lay Me Down” to their album. “Lay Me Down” went on to reach #1 at alternative rock radio for a record 11 weeks (longest reign at #1 for an indie label in the history of the Billboard ALT chart) and selling over 577k singles to date. In May of 2010, the band was named one the best new bands of 2010 by Rolling Stone.
Microbrew & Music Partners with Local Non-Profits
100% of net alcohol proceeds from the event will benefit the Greater Lansing Food Bank and our touring partner Xero Waste Events, a Michigan non-profit organization providing comprehensive recycling services and education to communities on sustainable event practices. At the 2013 Traverse City Summer Microbrew & Music Festival, over $20,000 was raised for local non-profit CherryT Ball which directly supported local food banks and Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center. We are proud to partner with Xero Waste Events, as they also contribute an annual portion of its revenues to local charities.
Sam Porter, founder of the Microbrew & Music Festival, anticipates the festival will provide a burst of energy to the central Michigan region. “We’re excited to launch our twelfth festival as the first annual one in Lansing. We have welcomed over 54,000 ticket buyers to eleven Microbrew and Music festivals over the past five and a half years to experience the craft brew culture and great music of Michigan. Our goal is to help drive thousands of residents and visitors into downtown merchants, bars and restaurants during an otherwise slower week in April,” he says.
Tickets are on sale now and festival details are available at http://www.microbrewandmusic.com. Festival announcements, giveaways, and other information can be found at http://www.facebook.com/microbrewandmusic. Attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, as the festival has sold out in past years. Ticket buyers must be 21 years old. Reported by PRWeb 6 hours ago.
