Sandy Rios Obama Racism
Sandy Rios recently claimed on her Christian-based American Family Association radio show that President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder were somehow stirring up black people and causing them to be racist.
According to RightWingWatch.org, Rios said that white people had actually moved past racism "quite a long time ago" and that whites elected President Obama twice.
"I think the racist garbage coming from a lot of blacks right now who are just filled with bitterness and rage is just amazing to me,” claimed Rios. “It is racism, I am seeing it constantly here in D.C. and it’s causing white citizens to become more racist than they ever were.”
“I think, for the most part, the American Anglo-Saxon crew really has moved past racism, they did it quite a long time ago,” added Rios. "They did elect Barack Obama twice."
However, in reality, Obama lost the white vote to Mitt Romney in 2012 by 59-39 percent, notes the Roper Center at the University of Connecticut. Obama also lost the white vote to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2008 by 55-43 percent.
Rios ignored the facts and continued.
“Racism just seems to be raging in the black community, I wonder what's causing that?" added Rios. "I think what’s causing it is people like Barack Obama and Eric Holder who can’t say enough and stir the pot enough to create anger and hatred and bitterness."
Rios could not cite one instance in which President Obama or Holder have supported racism, but they have spoken out against it.
Historically, Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights activists were often accused of "stirring the pot" by white racists.
